Spending a Fall Day in a National Forest

Today, we all (Glenn, Becky, In-laws and myself) drove to the Jefferson National Forest.

This is the area where Glenn has been working -  running the yarder for a logging operation.  He wanted us all to see what his job entailed by actually watching him on the job.  (See details in a later blog)

The day was clear, warm and peaceful despite being in the middle of the logging activity.  Autumn at its finest.  And, color, color, and more color....

The foliage is just beginning to turn.  What few leaves have made the transformation are beautiful.  I anxiously await more!

Anglewing - Commas (butterflies)
Besides the changing leaf color, there are still many gorgeous flowers in full bloom filled with busy insects gathering the end of season nectar.

Then, there are the unusual....

And, a tranquil autumn day is even more complete with the soft trickle of a small mountain creek.

Another fabulous day, no doubt...and more to come!
